Skywatching Tonight: A Planetary Symphony Above Pune (Feb 2, 2025)

On the evening of February 2nd, 2025, I had the privilege of witnessing a mesmerizing celestial display from Pune, India. Around 8:00 PM IST, with the Sun already setting on the opposite horizon (perhaps around 9:00 AM in the U.S.!), I used the SkyView Free app to help me trace the positions of the planets and constellations, making sure to capture the entire sky from west to east for a clear and complete view of this cosmic moment.

Picture:

Capricornus and the Sun-Mercury Conjunction

The Sun, now deeply descended, left a powerful impression on the celestial canvas, located in the Capricornus constellation, along with Mercury, which also appeared within its grasp.

This alignment brought a grounded energy, combining the practical, ambitious nature of Capricorn with the intellectual communication power of Mercury.

Saturn  and Venus: A Dance of Cosmic Beauty

As I turned my gaze slightly northward, I noticed the mighty Saturn positioned close to Venus, both low near the horizon.

Venus seemed to be rushing toward the Moon, which was in its 4th day of eclipse, known locally in Marathi as "Chandrachi Kor"

The sight of Venus, moving gracefully toward the Moon, felt almost like a cosmic embrace, with the celestial bodies synchronizing in beautiful harmony.

Moon and Venus in Pisces: A Spiritual Alignment

What stood out was the Moon and Venus, both residing within the Pisces constellation.

Pisces, the sign of intuition, spirituality, and emotional depth, imbued this cosmic pairing with a sense of fluidity and connection to the greater universe.

The Moon, in its eclipsed phase, and Venus, the goddess of love and beauty, created a soft, yet powerful energy that seemed to touch the soul.

Saturn's Steady Presence in Aquarius: The Guardian of Structure

To the WestSaturn held court in the Aquarius constellation, a sign associated with innovation, freedom, and structure.

Saturn, though distant and fading into the twilight, carried its heavy influence on the alignment, bringing a stabilizing presence to the otherwise fluid energy of the nearby planets.

Jupiter in Taurus: The Giant Overhead

Looking straight up, Jupiter hovered above me, its massive presence undeniable.

In the Taurus constellation, this planet of expansion, growth, and abundance felt both grounded and expansive.

It was as if Jupiter was offering a cosmic balance — its energy rooted in Taurus’ practicality, yet stretching far and wide.

Mars and Gemini: The Rising Red Star

Far to the east, Mars began to rise, glowing with its characteristic reddish hue. Mars, in the Gemini constellation, presented a striking visual as it began to climb higher into the sky.

Known as the planet of action, energy, and desire, Mars seemed to be preparing for a journey of its own, held by the communicative and intellectual sign of Gemini.
